Editorial and sourcing policy

Grant & Funding summarizes Canadian and Ontario funding programs so businesses and their accountants can decide what to look at next. Program operators publish the rules; we link to them and show when we last checked. These are the rules our site applies automatically.

Official sources

Program facts, guides, and newsroom items must link to at least one official source: a Canadian government website or the organization that administers the program. We currently treat these domains (and their subdomains) as official:

canada.ca, gc.ca, ontario.ca, gov.on.ca, gov.bc.ca, quebec.ca, gouv.qc.ca, alberta.ca, saskatchewan.ca, gov.mb.ca, gnb.ca, novascotia.ca, princeedwardisland.ca, gov.nl.ca, oc-innovation.ca, ontariocreates.ca, mitacs.ca, scaleai.ca, sdtc.ca, fcm.ca, innovatebc.ca, albertainnovates.ca, investquebec.com, futurpreneur.ca, bdc.ca, edc.ca.

News coverage, consultants, and aggregator sites are never used as the only source.

Verification dates

Program and guide pages show a “Last verified” date only while the program verification ledger says the check is still current. That date comes from the ledger. If the program is unverified or the verification has expired, the page says it is being re-verified and shows no date. Newsroom items show their publication or update date.

A program or guide page is offered to search engines and AI assistants only while that ledger verification is current and an official source is present. Newsroom items are listed while their publication or update date is within the last 90 days and an official source is present. Pages that do not meet those rules stay available to read, but are excluded from search indexing, our sitemap, and our llms.txt file until they are re-verified.

Closed programs

When an intake closes we keep the page for reference, show a “Closed” notice with the next intake timing if the operator has announced it, and remove the page from search indexing until the program reopens.

What our pages are not

Our summaries are not funding decisions, legal advice, or tax advice. Eligibility, amounts, and deadlines are set by the program operator and can change; always confirm with the official source before you apply or file.

Corrections

If something on a page does not match the official source, email hello@grantandfunding.com with the page and the source. See the program library for each program’s current verification status.
